PADI Rescue Diver Course

Well done to Steve, Phil and Christopher Watling in completing the PADI Rescue Diver Course this weekend. The lads journey started 4 weeks ago and have enjoyed 3 pool sessions at Blaydon Pool covering all elements of the course. Course Instructor Ian Waugh put the lads through their paces and produced a great enjoyable course. Open water we decided to take advantage of the tides and the break in the cold weather and we enjoyed two great days at Beadnel, Northumberland. The water was a cool 8c but warmer than the nearby lakes our other alternatives.

Open water was a challenge as we ran two courses with our resident 2 young lads Sam and Michael Elliott providing the second team with Wayne Blackett the lead Instructor and myself being the body. Unfortunately, the lads couldn’t make the Sunday to finish off, but the lads did an amazing job with Sam sporting his new o3 drysuit and looking extremely cool.

Ian’s team where again put through their paces with full practice scenario for all three lads with a big lump of search and recovery thrown in as the vis was approximately 2cm. We completed the final scenarios, a full rescue from bottom to top, back to shore, beaching, CPR and delivering o2.  Excellent fun and everyone doing exceptionally well.
